What is special about merino wool?
Merino sheep live in extreme conditions. They survive temperatures ranging from -20 C° to +30 C°. In such conditions, ordinary sheep would freeze to death. Thanks to the unique characteristics of their wool, Merinos are well adapted to these difficult conditions.
Merino wool is a breathable fabric that protects against overheating. It is perfect for summer days and stands out from ordinary wool. Merino wool is softer and much better than regular wool. It is very flexible and mixes easily. This is why regular wool itches and merino wool doesn't itch. This merino wool blanket is very light, delicate and soft. She doesn't itch. Nature is the most beautiful! No other fiber could be as warm and functional. It keeps you warm in the winter, but merino wool is actually perfect for year-round use!
Merino wool properties:
1. 100% natural fibers - Merino wool is made from natural fibers. The sheep are raised in a natural and ecological habitat. They graze freely in the hills of New Zealand and Australia.
2. 100% renewable and biodegradable once disposed of - it only takes a few years to break down back into the earth.
3. Merino wool absorbs moisture – it absorbs moisture vapors from the body and causes them to evaporate out of the fabric. Its ability to absorb and release moisture makes it one of the most breathable fibers on the market.
4. Merino wool has thermoregulatory properties: it maintains a comfortable temperature, keeps cool on hot days and warm on cold days. This is very important for very young babies who are not able to regulate their body temperature. Their bodies heat up and cool down more quickly than those of adults.
5. Merino wool absorbs moisture from the body - moisture evaporates through the merino wool. Even if the blanket is wet, the child does not feel it. This is why merino wool is the ideal base layer for next-to-skin sportswear.
6. Merino wool is odor resistant - it covers all unpleasant odors and releases them when washed. It should be rarely washed. Any absorbed odors are released into the air. Merino wool is also sweat resistant, it absorbs sweat molecules that are released after washing.
7. Merino wool is flame retardant – its chemical structure has been proven to be fire resistant. Unlike cotton which ignites at 225°C, merino wool only ignites if it reaches 570-600°C. Merino wool does not melt and therefore never sticks to the skin.
8. Merino wool blocks ultraviolet (UV) rays and serves as a natural UV barrier. It provides ultimate protection from the sun, making it the best choice while being out in the open.
9. Merino wool has antibacterial and antifungal properties – the waxes produced by sheep are highly antiallergic. It protects against dust and mites.
10. Merino wool is known as an anti-wrinkle fiber - as can be observed on a microscopic level, each wool fiber is like a coiled spring that returns to its natural shape after being bent. There is no annoying wrinkle damage.
11. Merino wool stays clean - it resists dirt. Its natural protective layer prevents stains from being absorbed. Merino wool is naturally antistatic and therefore does not attract dust and lint.
100% merino wool can radically improve sleep quality. Sleeping under merino wool blankets is extremely pleasant and cost-effective. Merino fiber actively regulates temperature. It protects every sleeping baby from overheating and cooling the body. It provides a comfortable temperature all year round and ensures good sleep.
